Life is a Fairy Tale is a series of seven sculptures that explores the fragile boundary between stable housing and the life events that can lead to homelessness. Many of the fairy tales we grew up with—such as Hansel and Gretel and The Three Little Pigs—center around a single event that forces the characters into homelessness, highlighting the unpredictability and vulnerability of losing one's home. • "The Town Musicians of Bremen" is a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm about four aging animals—a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster—no longer useful and discarded by their owners and decide to run away to Bremen to become musicians. Along their journey, they encounter a band of robbers in a cottage. Using their combined voices to create a terrifying cacophony, they scare the robbers away and take over the house. When the robbers try to return, the animals outwit them again, ultimately deciding to stay in the cottage and live happily ever after instead of continuing to Bremen. The tale highlights themes of resilience, teamwork, and finding new purpose in life.
